Olga's & Lelia's Stories

The advert that Olga, a 26 year old from Ukraine, replied to was for cleaning and catering jobs in Britain. She travelled to England with a man from the job agency.
"I had my own passport. But when we arrived he took my passport away and told me I had to work as a prostitute. He said I owed him money for the travel and I have to pay him back. I was shocked. I would NEVER have chosen to do this. I did not know what to do."

Lelia was just 15 when she was trafficked. Her friend had been offered a summer job in London and Lelia decided to go with her. At the airport they were met by some men who handed £3,500 to the man she had travelled with and to their horror the girls realised they had been sold. Lelia was raped and put to work in a brothel, she was too terrified to refuse

Olga and Lelia managed to escape their captors and were able to access safe houses, they are now beginning to rebuild their lives. Many more places of safety are needed all over the UK to make sure we can provide for women like this.
