Unseen runs the UK Modern Slavery Helpline, the only independent, confidential, 24/7 specialist hotline for anyone wanting to seek help or report modern slavery.

In less than three years, the Helpline has indicated over 15,000 potential victims, including many British nationals.

But without urgent funding, the Helpline will close on 30 November.

For thousands of people trapped in slavery, the Helpline is the only way out. If the lines go dead, hope will die with them.

Please turn your sound on and let Tania explain how your support can give hope. How it can give life. And how it can give a chance to feel human again.

When someone like Tania manages to find two safe minutes to call the Helpline, it’s vital someone is there to answer.

What is the Modern Slavery Helpline and who are the victims?

Modern slavery is a crime. It is an illicit trade in which human beings are commodified; bought, sold and exploited for vast profits. It is the abuse and control of one person over another and it affects men, women and children worldwide. It can take many forms, with exploiters often targeting the most vulnerable in society.

Modern slavery is present in every town in the UK and includes sexual exploitation, domestic servitude and forced labour. Victims are controlled through violence and cruelty and often subjected to years of physical, mental and emotional trauma.

In 2018, the UK Government identified 6,993 victims in the UK. However, this is just the tip of the iceberg. The National Crime Agency estimates that there are tens of thousands of victims in the UK.
